Yellow - Is it out or in?

Let's start by saying that Yellow has become something of an underused Colour in homes as of late, however, I always seem to find it in interior/home store's NEW IN and then again in the clearance...I still haven't quite figured out if people actually like it, don't like it or are just unsure of how to use these YELLOW OBJECTS in their homes.

I had an experience with a client when shopping with them, they picked up this Burnt yellow vase studied it, pulled a face of being puzzled and unsure put it down and walked away it wasn't until we were in the queue it came up a conversation that they were just unsure if yellow is outdated now,

I questioned why they thought this with the answer was that it reminded them of their mother's random nic nac's around their childhood home of china cups, and little dolls dressed in yellow flowers and has put them off for life, However, a few days later I had found a couple of yellow pieces for her home which I sent over, a day passed and an email came through that they had never thought they'd enjoy yellow in this way or imagined it in their home until now with the palette of these objects slightly more modern with unusual shapes that captivates the vision for the space.

It made me think a little more or Yellow and why we can't decide if it's in or out - with recent trends like Pantone colour of the year being yellow and grey with the comments going in the direction of outdated palettes and overused in the everyday home. I do believe we take trends far too seriously - with our own homes especially when we should find things that make our pad feel like something like a story about us - celebrating our style! If you see something Yellow and love the shape, and the pattern go for it!!!
